Storytelling is key in the process of making and living an experience. Cinema and film studies have explored ‘making’ and ‘telling’ for years. This talk aims to connect design and cinema and to look at patterns and practices, history and stories.

In a networked environment where design and architecture meet storytelling with or without technologies, what narratives and imaginary spaces are articulated?
How is function is extrapolated into fiction? What are the emerging patterns in praxis?

About Alok Nandi

Alok b. Nandi was born in Congo, raised in Zaïre and is currently based in Europe, where has studied engineering, management and film (Licence en Philosophie et Lettres). As a designer, media artist, writer-director and strategic design consultant, he explores conflicting constraints in evolving and hybrid contexts, via his design label Architempo.

Narrative Design encapsulates researches in navigation, interaction, visualisation, patterns, imageability, ambulation, way finding, saturation, frugality, zero and food. Alok Nandi translates these abstract concepts into concrete works within information design, media technologies, exhibition mise-en-scene, public speaking, media art and design.
